Starting groups and neighborhoods

Now that you're a member of MySTLtoday, you can find other people that share your interests and live where you do. Are you a Cardinals fan? There's a group for that. Do you twitter? There's a group for that too.

But we want you to create your own and here's how.

1. Log in to MySTLtoday.

2. Click on "My Stuff" at the top of the page to go to your profile.

3. On the left hand side, find the box that says "My Groups" (or "My Neighborhoods") and click "Create New."

4. On the next page, give your group/neighborhood a name and write a description.

5. Upload a group/neighborhood photo by clicking on "Update Image"

6. If your group/neighborhood has a website somewhere else, include that too.

That's it! Now you need to get people to join them. Go back to "My Groups" or "My Neighborhoods" on your profile page and you can now send invitations to your friends via email to join. You can also moderate the group's or neighborhood's blog, photos, videos and events.

After you make yours, be sure to join others and be an active participant in MySTLtoday.

Mashable.com, one of the web's premier site's for social media has included MySTLtoday on a list called "10 Ways Newspapers are Using Social Media to Save the Industry."

8. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch has launched MySTLtoday, a branded community featuring areas such as user-created groups, user-posted content, and special interest sections like St. Louis' BestBridal. Excerpts from shared stories are printed each week in the legacy paper. This might seem old-school, but it strengthens a traditional middle American brand, and it promotes more interaction, which helps advertisers pinpoint their targets.
