Just imagine, an 11-year old son, 14-year old daughter, Me (the mom), hubby (the dad), 18-year old niece, my 72-year old mother and 74-year old father all on vacation...together?!

Sounds crazy, right?  But I do believe this "mutli generational" vacation was one of the best I've ever had!

It was great because our teenage daughter got to spend time with her older niece, and they're very close.  My son got to spend real quality fishing time with his "pumpa" Grandpa, and they're really close as well, my husband got to relax and I got to reconnect with my mom.

I'm not saying it was all heaven, all of us riding the 4 hour drive in one car from St. Louis to TableRock Lake (Branson), but it was well worth a little discomfort for a little slice of heaven pretty close to our home town. 

My kids don't get to see my parents that often as they live in Los Angeles, where I grew up.  They decided to come out for a visit for a couple weeks and we thought, why not do a whole vacation in Branson!

I believe everyone can learn something from taking a multi-generational vacation!  Grandparents get closer to the grandchildren and memories are forever treasured.  I know I have some great ones!  And the best part...my 74 year old dad going tubing for the first time on the lake!  Teaching my kids that you're never too old to try something new and exciting!
