Birthday parties

I'm thinking of having my kids' birthday party at my house this year. They wil be 3 and 5 (boys), and it will be mostly family. In fact, the only kids will be them, their two cousins and probably two friends.

I was wondering what kind of entertainment I should provide for them? Would doing a craft of some sort be corny? Maybe I should get a magician or something. Any ideas?

Would your children be able to sit still long enough to enjoy the magician? Do they like outdoor type activities? What about turning on the sprinkler, bubble blowing, painting the sidewalk with buckets of water and paint brushes (the bucket and brushes could be the party favors). Make an obstacle course for them to run through or ride their tricycles through.

Great ideas! I think I really like the idea of painting something.
