Back to the Sixties
Posted by: pokie too at 9:58PM CST on June 4, 2009
Has anyone noticed the rather obvious turn television is making back to a different time.....maybe the sixties and the seventies.  This is right down my ally since I am a very old hippy from the sixties and very proud of it.  I protested with some of the best of them in some of the most high profile places and so now when I turn on the television and the info commercials are full of the songs from that period, I sit happily in the recliner and hum along in bliss.  A couple of weekends ago Channel Nine had Peter, Paul and Mary on all afternoon and it just made my day.  How nice to see that they had grown old like me but there eyes still twinkled and the love was still there along with their very active brains.  Maybe with times so bad now some will research our thoughts from that time and our ability to live with the help of our friends on very little and be extremely happy. Of course I have always seemed to have had a garden around and now it is in vogue to take a patch of your lawn and grow something even if it is herbs, so you and the world know you are trying.  City plots are springing up everywhere, as they should.  Somewhere under all the red tape is an honest, hardworking person who is just trying to feed his family and I feel he will win.Thank heaven there are so many of us babyboomers still left to help the world remember a gentler time.  Yes we had our faults and riots but we lived together for a better world and most of us still do. It seems my thank-yous are really spread around these days....maybe because of my aging and maybe my slowing down long enough to appreciate an earlier time.......love pokie

Thank you NBC

I have spent the last two nights glued to the TV watching the coverage of the Presidents family and the White House and staff.  I was in awe and so proud.  No other place in the world can possibly be run in such a fashion and it work.  You could feel the love and compassion throughout.  As an American, I was so proud to show the world this side of America. I am aware that things can be staged but I felt this right down to the garden and play gym outside the oval office.  Thank you again Mr. President and NBC for giving me this experience and surely one I would have never had otherwise....love pokie

Something about Nothing

I was talking with my brother in Colorado tonight.  We have been playing with the SKYPE idea for some time.  I'm not the best looking thing around and particularly when on the internet so I have been putting him off but taking a few things into thought I decided to bite the bullet and hook up tomorrow.  Though many miles seperate us, we are joined in many ways.  He has been fighting liver disease for years and just this week has started chemo for liver cancer....and I just found out my cancer may be cervical and so the doctors or preping me for whatever they have to do...BUT we, as all we have for brothers and sisters, have decided that sickness is all in what you make it and we choose to stay UP.  I have never regretted my Parkinson's and have found that regret really does no good....just find a passion and go for it till you can't go any more and that makes your life worthwhile and at atleast gives others something to remark about and enjoy.  I could not possibly cram anymore into my life.  Love flows from all sides and then some and my roads have always been made so much softer by my belief in God.  I have and continue to live every minute and even my dreams are exciting.  Someone said that dreams must be earned and I believe that.  After a hard day and whatever I can sure dream and enjoy.....Very seldom are my dreams bad and usually are a visit with someone I was missing.  I always view this a a special gift sent just to me....I am really just wandering around in the halls tonight without a mission but felt the need to type...love pokie
