There is a new Project in the Air.....
Posted by: pokie too at 2:27PM CST on August 8, 2009
In April I carried our 2009 Unity Quilt to New York City for it's first showing to the world.  Twenty some odd members of Patientslikeme.com had decided to show the world how talented People with Parkinson's can be...and She Was Beautiful.  She made the Unity Walk WebCast and was "ohhhed and ahhhed" by people from all over the world.  The Parkinson's Disease Foundation gave me a place to display her and she was set.  During the course of the day I got a chance to tell her story and how much she meant to each contributor.  Much to my surprise, on returning to the Midwest, I was one of six chosen to join a committee to solisate squares and contributions for the 2010 World Parkinson's Congress in Glosglow, Scotland .  I can not tell you how honored I am to participate in this project.  After the Congress the quilts will travel around the world and since each square will be cataloged and tracked, if you made a square and are going to travel you can contact our data base and find out where you square is being displayed.  Each quilt will be made up of 16 squares.  Each square will be 30"x 30".  The square should be centered on this square leaving a 6 inch margin around the edge.  No restrictions have been placed on the content or medium except good taste and permenant supplies that can withstand travel.  I will receive the squares and pass them on to be set in panels.....You may contact me at justpokie@gmail.com for more directions.  Contributions from sponsors  would be appreciated.  Corporations could do a whole quilt for display or make monitary contributions.  More details will follow but I am so excited as to what this can do to further awareness and research...stay tuned Pokie

Let Yourself Be Lead......
Posted by: pokie too at 4:32AM CST on August 6, 2009
It's four a.m. and all in all it is another Parkinson morning.  Today will be different though.  Two very special prayers were answered for me this week.  Prayers that would have been run of the mill for most but meant everything to me.  You see the fourth of July God delivered a baby kitten to me through my sixteen year old granddaughter.  He was half the size of my hand, very underweight and had no idea how to eat.  He just sat and cried.  I hand fed him and held him constantly as did my 83 year old mom.  I see now why they say "Old people need babies".  I really hadn't thought I was to that stage yet until now.  I have been having very confusing health problems of late and been mostly home bound.  Depression creeps in when these times come and to help ward that off God sent me this kitten.  About a week ago he got very sick and I prayed out loud "God please don't take this kitten back" and he recovered.  He's such a shining light in the dark...I guess they both are, God and Teddy(Theodore).  I guess I was missing being needed and love it.

The second prayer was for a family member having some husband wife problems.  I just prayed for God to lead me to help them see just what a blessing they had in each other and their family....and it happened.

I am yours Lord, to be lead and I am sorry that I rushed through the first sixty some odd years doing what I wanted and only praying when things got tough.  I never saw the small prayers you answered....I was just to busy.  Thanks for slowing me down so I could appreciate the life I have and the precious things in it........love pokie
