Back to the Sixties
Posted by: pokie too on June 4, 2009 at 9:58PM CST
Has anyone noticed the rather obvious turn television is making back to a different time.....maybe the sixties and the seventies.  This is right down my ally since I am a very old hippy from the sixties and very proud of it.  I protested with some of the best of them in some of the most high profile places and so now when I turn on the television and the info commercials are full of the songs from that period, I sit happily in the recliner and hum along in bliss.  A couple of weekends ago Channel Nine had Peter, Paul and Mary on all afternoon and it just made my day.  How nice to see that they had grown old like me but there eyes still twinkled and the love was still there along with their very active brains.  Maybe with times so bad now some will research our thoughts from that time and our ability to live with the help of our friends on very little and be extremely happy. Of course I have always seemed to have had a garden around and now it is in vogue to take a patch of your lawn and grow something even if it is herbs, so you and the world know you are trying.  City plots are springing up everywhere, as they should.  Somewhere under all the red tape is an honest, hardworking person who is just trying to feed his family and I feel he will win.Thank heaven there are so many of us babyboomers still left to help the world remember a gentler time.  Yes we had our faults and riots but we lived together for a better world and most of us still do. It seems my thank-yous are really spread around these days....maybe because of my aging and maybe my slowing down long enough to appreciate an earlier time.......love pokie
