If you missed it -- and you've probably already watched it online by now -- here's Josh Groban's TV theme medley from Sunday's Emmys.
It's a little goofy, but it was one of the funnier Emmy moments. What a versatile voice Groban has!

I first saw this video in July, but I stumbled upon it sgain a few days ago. It's still hilarious -- but possibly only because I am a huge typography nerd.

Continuing my theme of creepy TV shows from my childhood, let's take a look at the opening titles from a show I was glued to in the late '80s: "Today's Special." The opening was the same every time, and it sets up the premise of the show: A department store closes for the night, and the overnight employees party down with a mannequin who comes to life when made to wear an awful hat. All sorts of hilarity and hijinks ensue, and there usually is some sort of valuable, wholesome lesson to be learned.
My concerns as I watched this show:

Cats are dangerously close to being overexposed. But until they are, watch as this one stealthily moves toward the camera without actually walking. NINJA CAT!

It's amazing I ended up as normal as I did, considering the stuff on TV I was plopped in front of as a child.

We hear Liza Minnelli put on a truly terrific show here last week. If you missed it, entertain yourself with her 1979 appearance with the Muppets. She sings “Everything’s Coming Up Roses” -- and solves a murder mystery!

The minute America got one look at Republican veep candidate Sarah Palin, one thing was clear: Tina Fey will play her on "SNL."
Fey returned this week and paired with Amy Poehler for the show's "live from New York, it's Saturday night" opener. It was pure genius -- funny yet insightful.
While there was bit about lipstick, I expected the word "maverick" to be used at least 12 times.

My friend Mark is celebrating his birthday today, so these videos are for him -- and you. He's always a good source of viral-video hilarity, and these are some of his faves:
Wendy Walker whips up a banana split. How simple!
Anna Nicole Smith visits skateboarding legend Tony Hawk:
This "Mad TV" alternate ending to "The Wizard of Oz" teaches us how easy it really is to travel back to Kansas -- which could have shortened the film considerably:
And finally, how you durrin?

Today, someone posted a link to this video starring lunatic Gary Busey. It was the first I had seen of this one, yet there clearly is an overabundance of footage on the Internets of Busey being ridiculous.
YouTube knows, too. It gave me a list of other videos of Gary when I played that one. Like this one -- where he can't manage to answer an easy question from a reporter about his lame movie:
And this one, where he also tries to steer an interview. Badly.
I'm not an expert, but does anyone know if his professional credits even include directing? I sure hope not.
And speaking of almost-celebrities, check out this disaster interview by Fox 5 in Las Vegas with Solange Knowles, hanger-on to sister Beyonce.
That's all for today. I'm off to enjoy an art opening. But be sure to pass along your viral-video links, and I may feature them here. And follow us on Twitter for entertainment updates all day long.

I'm a simple guy. Instead of crowded, loud clubs, I much prefer hanging out in comfortable, friendly places (read: dives) where I can talk to my friends and actually hear them.
Call me old-fashioned. Or just call me old.
But on the next rare occasion that I find myself waiting in line outside a trendy club like a schmuck, I'm totally gonna take a page from this dude's playbook:
The only thing I'm unclear about is whether the Aussie accent is necessary for this to work.
Once you're lucky enough to be allowed into the trendy, velvet-roped clubs, don't be That Guy once you get to the bar. The kind folks at GenerationAwesome offer a set of 12 helpful PSAs that explore the secret desires of your bartender. Learn from these customers' mistakes.
Earmuffs warning.

Do you like cake? I mean do you really, really, really like cake?
I thought not.
Whoever put together this video, originally seen at rathergood.com, loves them some cake. Possibly even more than they like kitties.
We don't judge, though. We have what may be considered an unhealthy obsession with bacon.
Jim Gaffigan also loves cake.
While we're hovering around the subject of cake, you should check out this blog about cake.
"A blog about cake?" you ask? Yes, a blog about cake. It's hilarious. I found myself reading it for hours one afternoon.

It's not my intention for this blog to take on a political tone. But we are in the midst of a heated race for the presidency -- plenty of opportunities for video fun. You probably remember seeing the popular Barackroll video around the Internets a few weeks ago. Well, the creator of that has put together this new one using footage from last week's RNC.
Who knew there was so much footage of McCain looking flustered? And what would an election be without a last-minute candidate? The Onion News Network has the scoop.

Those of you who are in bed at a decent hour each night may not be aware of this: Late-night TV is full of horrible, horrible things.
Some Googling reveals that this dude is named Vince Offer. We doubt that's his real last name because that would mean he literally was born to sell crap on TV. Read more about Vince in this article by Slate.com. By this time, you've probably already seen the old video of Bill O'Reilly (quite possibly the Worst Person in the World -- besides Ann Coulter) flipping out on "Inside Edition." We found this clip a few days ago that combines that footage with the Shamwow footage, and it's pretty funny. Fair warning, though: earmuffs. This is a family newspaper, after all.

STLtoday.com's most-e-mailed lists for the past few weeks have revealed an alarming trend. Actually, it's more precious than alarming. St. Louisans love kitties. With that in mind, please enjoy this clip we originally saw on E!'s "The Soup":
I'm pretty sure the most alarming part is the scene where the crazy owner washes the cat's paws. Hello -- you're about to let a dirty animal sit on your dining table and eat Fancy Feast with a fork strapped to its arm. Dirty paws should be the least of your worries. Remember the video about the dramatic chipmunk? Well, not to be outdone, this cat also shows that he or she can be dramatic:

Music is great and all, but it's even better when it teaches something. That's part of the reason we like Fergie: She sings and spells. Brillz! This video by "Sesame Street" was featured on YouTube yesterday. Though they didn't allow it to be embedded, we found a version that we could post here.
And speaking of Fergie ...

Comedian Jim Gaffigan is coming to the Fabulous Fox later this month as part of his Comedy Central Sexy Tour. So we were inspired us to take a look back -- by way of the Internets -- at some of his most hilarious material.
In this clip, Gaffigan aims to make sense of America's love affair with bacon.
Bacon: funny and delicious. Also rife with comedy potential: Hot Pockets.
Speaking of the Internets, what did we ever do to pass the time without YouTube? I suppose offices were a lot more productive -- but what fun is that?
In this video, Matt Koval imagines a world where YouTube tries to exist without the Internet. Picture it: Sicily. 1985.
As a tribute to my friend Mark, here's a little something from "Mad TV." Wendy Walker is right: Tuna melts are simple. I was eating them for quite a while after he first made me watch this video.
Finally, as you may know, the musical "Rent" comes to a close on Sunday after 12 years on Broadway. It marks the end of an era. A film crew will be on hand to record the performance, which will include closing-night extras and an appearance by original cast members.
But the coolest part is that the film will be played in select movie theaters for audiences nationwide on Sept. 24, 25, 27 and 28. Locally, you can see it at these Wehrenberg theaters.
To get you in the spirit, here's a clip from the 2008 Tony Awards, featuring current and original "Rent" cast members.

This week, coinciding with the launch of Go! (our fun, new entertainment guide) and some much-needed housekeeping on the Entertainment channel of STLtoday.com, I started a viral video feature. It's in its infancy right now -- it lives on a tabbed module in the middle column of the entertainment homepage. But the idea is that I will post a new video each day.
Ideally, we'll develop an actual blog on the site, so you can see each video I feature over time. But until that happens, I'll keep track of them here -- and feature a few extras that don't exactly meet the family-newspaper standards.
Oh, and, while I'm thinking about it, you should follow Go! on Twitter. We'll keep you informed about fun things to do in the St. Louis area. Also, if you're into such things, sign up for our Go! Sneak Peek. Every Thursday, we'll send you an e-mail preview of what we're working on for Go!
Just in time for the Democratic National Convention! I got linked to this video a few weeks ago and thought it was pretty brilliant. And with the DNC upon us, people started passing it around again.
Clearly, someone had far too much time on their hands (says the kettle). But it's still pretty amazing.
The creator explains how he made it here: hmatkin.blogspot.com/
A little something to mark Michael Jackson's 50th(!) birthday -- his Pepsi commercial from the 1980s.
In this gem from one of my favorite new sites, funnyordie.com, the pretty and talented Kristin Chenoweth confirms what we always suspected: Bad things sound better when you sing them.
This just in: Paris Hilton isn't just a pretty face. She's also, apparently, been tossed into the presidential race.
In her video response to John McCain's negative campaign ad -- in which she was referenced as a celebrity without substance -- she gracefully accepts the nomination and pitches her ideas for change once she's moved into the White House.
Loves it.
